How to Write Your First Blog Post on WordPress
I suppose you have decided upon a topic and are ready to write your first post. To start, log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. On the left sidebar, you will see a menu with different options. When you hover your cursor over the Posts option, more options will appear.
Click on All Posts to see the posts that have been created so far. Since we are starting with your very first post, click on the Add New option instead.
This is what a blank post looks like. At the top, there is a field where you can add the title of your post, and below it is the area where you will write the main content.
On the right-hand side, there is a sidebar. If it is not visible, click the box-like icon at the top to make it appear. We will come back to this sidebar shortly.
First, give your post a title. Then, add all of your content in the main editor area. You can format your text by making headings bold, organizing content into paragraphs, inserting tables, and creating lists to present your information more clearly.
I won’t go into too much detail due to time constraints, but this gives you an overview so you can explore and do it yourself. If you click the small button in the editor, it will open additional content management tools. From here, you can insert images into your post and access your media gallery. Click the button again to close this panel.
Now, move to the right sidebar as mentioned earlier. After completing your writing, review the post settings here. You will see that the visibility of your post is set to Public, which means anyone on the internet can access it once it is published. You can click this option to change the visibility if needed.
From this section, you can also set a specific date and time to publish your post. WordPress will automatically publish it when the scheduled time arrives. Just below that, you will see the post’s URL. You can edit this link and choose what you want your URL to be.
If you scroll down, you will see Categories. You can create and assign categories to organize your posts. You can create as many categories as needed to keep your content well structured.
Scroll down a bit further to add Tags to your post. Tags help Google and other search engines understand what your post is about.
Once everything is ready, click the Publish button. That’s it—your post has been published.
