How to Delete Categories in WordPress
Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. Once you are on the dashboard, navigate to Posts and then click Categories from the sidebar menu. The Categories page displays a list of all existing categories.
On the right side, when you hover your cursor over any category, a Delete option appears. Clicking the Delete option allows you to remove that specific category. Simply click Delete and then accept the confirmation prompt. This is one way to delete individual categories.
You can also delete categories in bulk. For bulk deletion, check the topmost box to select all categories at once. You may also uncheck the boxes for any categories you do not want to delete. Next, go to Bulk Actions, select the Delete option, and then click the Apply button.
After applying the action, the categories list will update and show that all selected categories have been deleted. A confirmation message stating that the categories were deleted will appear at the top of the page.
Please keep in mind that there is no way to recover categories once they are deleted in WordPress. However, you can create a new category with the same name, and any posts that were previously assigned to deleted categories will be moved to the Uncategorized category.
I hope this is clear. Thank you for watching.
