Before Installing CentOS Web Panel: System Requirements

Before installing CentOS Web Panel, follow this guide to ensure basic requirements are met. Alternatively, you can purchase CentOS Web Panel VPS servers directly from our website.

CentOS Web Panel System Requirements

Prior to installing CentOS Web Panel on your server, you will want to first ensure the following steps are complete:

Setup Hostname

This hostname cannot be used as an account domain in CentOS and is reserved exclusively for server-level services.  For example, if your domain is example.com and you plan to create a blog at blog.example.com, then the hostname cannot be blog.example.com. Try something more exotic, such as server.example.com.

Here is a guide for performing the hostname setup:

Modify Server Hostname Using SSH in CentOS

Setup Server IP addresses

Define additional IP address, subnet address, and default gateway IP address for your server. For fresh install of CentOS 6/7, the primary network interface is configured in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

Here is a guide for configuring additional IPs to the server:

Bind Additional IPs to NIC - CentOS & Apache

Software Requirements

You must have a clean/fresh installation of supported operating systems:

Minimal CentOS/RHEL/CloudLinux 6.x or CentOS 7.x installation. At this time, CentOS Web Panel currently supports the English version only. Both 32 Bit and 64 Bit versions are supported, where applicable.

Hardware Requirements

Minimum RAM (32 bit systems): 512MB

Minimum RAM (64 bit systems): 1024MB

Recommended: 4 GB+ RAM

Minimum Disk (Any): 10GB+

If your server will be responsible for multiple services (web, database, email, DNS, etc), the added memory will be used to prevent system failure when multiple processes are using memory. Added CPU resources are recommended for this configuration, also.

Additional Steps

OPTIONAL: You can download CentOS 7 Installation here (if your hosting provider doesn’t offer it). If using Rad Web Hosting KVM VPS Servers, we provide 64 Bit versions of CentOS 7 with automated installation upon provision or OS reload.

Download CentOS 7.x – 64bit (minimal)

Prior to installing CentOS Web Panel, install the wget package by running the following command (requires root user):

sudo yum -y install wget

Now, run the server update, and reboot.

You are now ready to install CentOS Web Panel packages.
